2011 CHMI Board of Directors

 

CHISPA Housing Management, Inc. (CHMI) is overseen by a five-member Board of Directors with diverse backgrounds and experience. CHMI Board members live and work in different areas of Monterey County and represent different industries.

 

James H. Claypool, Jr. is retired and resides in Seaside. Prior to his retirement James was employed as the Economic Development and Redevelopment Manager for the City of Seaside. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Seaside/Sand City Chamber of Commerce and is actively involved in the Monterey Bay Blues Festival. He is also affiliated with the Peninsula Golf Club, Retired Men’s Social Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars. James is interested in ensuring that there is an adequate supply of much-needed affordable housing on the Central Coast.is retired and resides in Seaside. Tom Huffman, Treasurer – is the Distribution Manager for Driscoll’s Strawberry. Tom resides in Salinas and is very interested in ensuring that there are affordable housing opportunities available for local workers, families and seniors.

 

Esther L. Rubio is the Director of Head Start for the Monterey County Office of Education. Esther holds a Master of Public Administration from Golden Gate University and is a trained facilitator. She currently serves on the Monterey County Child Care Planning Council, Hermana Scholarship Committee, Salinas-Kushikino Sister City Association, League of United Latin American Citizens and is a Member of the Women’s Fund and the All-Star High School Soccer Game. Esther has a long history of community service and involvement in organizations which promote health and education. She strongly believes that providing affordable housing opportunities to Central Coast residents will empower them to become invested in their homes and communities.

 

Julie Edgcomb is the Director of Outpatient Services for the Monterey County Health Department. She is also a member of the adjunct faculty at Hartnell Community College. Julie holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Education. She is a graduate of Leadership Salinas Valley, volunteers with the City of Monterey Museums and is the Past President of the Monterey County Private Industry Council.

 

Elsa Quezada is the Executive Director of the Central Coast Center for Independent Living (CCCIL), a local nonprofit organization which provides advocacy, educationa dn support to all people with disabilties.  She has served on numerous local, state and national advisory committees with a special interest in developing independent living services for Latinos with disabilities and is the President of the California Foundation for Independent Living Centers.  She also serves on many local boards including the ACTION Council, the Monterey County Health Consortium, and the Santa Cruz-Monterey Medi-Cal Managed Care Commission and has played a key role in the establishment of the Monterey County Public Authority and the Monterey County Commission on Disabilities.
